The Black Sea autumn migration spectacular!

Situated on the western side of the Black Sea, the Bulgarian coast is a major flyway for huge numbers of birds passing through on their autumn migration.

Although not as well known as other migrant watchpoints, this area plays host to 90,000 raptors, 30,000 pelicans, and 240,000 storks each autumn, as well as thousands of waders and passerines using the coastal lagoons and headlands on their way to wintering areas further south. Our 2-centre holiday will be a relaxed affair, as we explore a wide variety of habitats from the Kaliakra Steppe, to the Burgas Wetlands, and taking in the deciduous forests of the nearby mountains. The prospect of witnessing the miracle of migration is probably the most exciting aspect of birding, and each day will bring something new and different to see. From huge numbers of Lesser Spotted Eagles and flocks of White Pelicans flying over, to marshes full of waders, and coastal scrubland brimming with larks, pipits, warblers, flycatchers and buntings. If you enjoy birding and watching birds without rushing around, then this is the tour for you.
