BOLIVIA

Friday 26th September – Sunday 12th October 2008

This bird rich country is now amongst the most stable and safe countries of South America offering very little known yet exciting birding.

From snow-capped peaks and volcanos to pristine forest, cactus dominated valleys, puna grasslands, bogs and lakes, the great diversity of wildlife has seen many keen birders recommend Bolivia as their favourite South American birding destination. With this in mind we have set up a fantastic tour to cover all the above habitats starting in the tropical lowlands at Santa Cruz and slowly day by day climbing up into the high Andes, Lake Titicaca and La Paz, the world’s highest capital city. This small landlocked country boasts an amazing 1,300 species of birds… a full 40% of the species of South America. About 20 species are endemic with three times that represented by endemic races. Another hundred or so are endemic to the limited ecosystems that share a border with Bolivia and we will seek out many of the specialities, including flocks of dazzling tanagers, numerous antbirds, flycatchers, hummingbirds, parrots and much, much, more. Join us on what will probably be your greatest South American adventure yet!
