SRI LANKA

Friday 28th November – Tuesday 9th December 2008

A special tour to see all the endemic birds!

This new endemic-focused tour visits the tropical paradise island of Sri Lanka in search of some of the most exciting birds in the Indian Subcontinent.

There are currently 34 endemic species, with several other potential ‘splits’ pending and numerous distinctive races that may one day be elevated to full-species status. This tour will give us the very best chance of seeing the recently discovered Serendib Scops Owl, as well as the even rarer Ceylon Bay Owl! Our tour concentrates on the tropical rainforests and the higher areas around Newera Eliya, plus a visit to the bird-filled Udawalawe, where it is possible to see over 100 species in a day. The bird life is extremely varied from skulking Ceylon Spurfowl and Green-billed Coucal, to Ceylon Frogmouth and Indian Pitta, this tour will let us see the best of this wonderful island in a more relaxed manner than is usually possible on other itineraries. Join us on this endemic rich, and as usual fun-filled, BIRDSEEKERS tour that will leave you longing to return!
